To Anne Caputa:
Again about my plumbing issue.
Lee told me that water might be turn off any time including weekend but it need to be done in advance.
Management Company told they can turn off water only during business hours. The can give me 4 ours frame to do whatever I need to do. I asked for time from 1 PM to 4 PM. During this period I might need to turn on and turn off water several times.
I asked Bert turn off the water at 2:30 and he disappear.
I did it in advance; you know my name, address and phone.
Very simple task. Very simple. But very poor organized. Misleading and misunderstanding even between you, Management Company and Bert. But as always blame goes on people head. Very symptomatically.

You started like never knew it. Let’s figure out what we need to do and then chose the most expensive way to do it. You talk a lot about how people suing. I asked around. I didn’t find examples when people sue association, but I find two fresh examples how people fight their big assessments and how big construction companies with big insurance did very poor job. Even protected yourself from all sides (expensive construction company, expensive construction manager, legal consultation, etc) you can not guarantee good quality of repair. Actually you can guarantee nothing. If people do not vote in favor of this assessment, you can take it in the court or you can try to make it work for everybody.
But if you take it into the court, I start to think, may be I should take the board to the court. Because it is you direct responsibility to maintain our property in good condition for our high assessment. And you failed it. For many years you did nothing to improve a little something. For many years you made decisions which people can not support. You keep blaming people but never try to make different decisions. Everything goes worth and worth. You followed all laws but you improved nothing. And now we are facing that city can condemn parts of our property. This is result of your work. How can I trust you spending my $57000? No way.

Natasha, you continue to make sweeping statements without knowing the facts. The Board members have spent hundreds - if not thousands - of hours, looking for the most economical PROFESSIONAL construction manager and contractor to do the reconstruction. Instead of "asking around," you could simply go straight to the Board members, or other people who have worked as hard as they could to solve our problems, to find out the truth.

Do you really believe that the current Board members would rather spend all of their personal time, working on behalf of people who think they're incompetent? People who are so critical of others, yet can't apply the same criticism to themselves? People who believe the Board members are paid under the table, or get special favors, or take bribes, or whatever? None of these things are true.

Yes, there are many problems here, and one of the biggest problems is that people spread rumors, falsehoods and lies, and other people believe what they want to believe.

As I said, I would be happy to have a nice long conversation with you, and tell you what I know to be true, not what other people have said is true.

Rob

Rob, I’ve listened to Board of Directors members more then to anybody else.
I am not discussing my beliefs here. I am not satisfied with the facts and result.
Rumors are spreading when people are not satisfied and can not be heard.
I don’t mind to have a talk. You have my number. You are welcome to call me evening time. Today would be fine.

Hello Lee, thank you for your response. I read each word of it. And I still strongly disagree with your decision. Most of all I blame myself for trusting you (I mean board of directors) so much. I am a new comer in US, I thought that you grew up here, know this society from inside out, and I trusted. Now I see I was wrong. But until very recent moments I tried to believe that you making decisions would consider ALL residents circumstances. Some people just can not afford that money. I am happy for you that you are planning to travel on your retirement and consider your apartment as investment. My situation is very different. When I came in US I was after 45 and had two children and welfare. I know it is not your problem; this is just for your information. I worked really hard and I bought this apartment tree years later. And recently I was out of job for long period of time. So don’t tell me about investment. It is not true for me and not only for me. When anybody starts some project, they plan a budget. What money they can afford for the project.

I've had a few requests for the ability to make paragraph breaks in posts to Speak Out! so I've replaced the old script with a modern one that allows paragraphs and is easier to read. It also has smilies smile I hope you enjoy using it.

The old posts are still on the site for your review.
